This list was limited to things that could be ordered through our FLGS because that's where we're playing. One day I'll have to make a bigger list of minis that are good for mythic gaming.:)Eddiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11544546917159981001noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8448890078579476461.post-8316671772645094572013-07-28T09:34:45.258+01:002013-07-28T09:34:45.258+01:00After thinking about it I think I've hit on a ...After thinking about it I think I've hit on a simple answer. A third of your points have to come from the normal roster and if you've played five games you can add custom figures that are not Gods/Titans.Eddiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11544546917159981001noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8448890078579476461.post-35307284745301304142013-07-26T08:34:13.456+01:002013-07-26T08:34:13.456+01:00Ignoring the 1/3 rule for personalities for the Go...Ignoring the 1/3 rule for personalities for the God or Titan, but still allowing personalities, I assume that the 1/3 limit still applies to them in the war band. So in the final battle of 600 points, 300 could be for the God/Titan, 200 could be used for other personalities, and the 100 would be for regular characters. Correct?

Ignoring the God or Titan rule, the previous rule for no more than 1/3 of the army being specialized by the Army Builder is still in effect as well. Correct?

So in the example above, 500 of the 600 points could be specialized characters if both of those answers are 'yes'.

Thanks for going through the work putting this together.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04123119740932390350noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8448890078579476461.post-45456492577716767112013-07-25T10:25:20.291+01:002013-07-25T10:25:20.291+01:00A good starting list!
Black Tree Designs http://...A good starting list!

Black Tree Designs http://www.blacktreedesign.com/home.html) appears to have recovered from its blight of bad customer service from a few years ago (I have placed 2 orders in the last couple of months, both have arrived within a week or so of placing them, with everything complete and as expected). The have a 'sales'/Special offer page which is updated weekly, and often has discounts of between 25-50%, bringing the figures down to 0.68-1.14 GBP each. They've a large range of Egyptians, Celts, Picts, Germans, Greeks, Assyrians, Trojans... well, you get the idea. They also have a fantasy range which, whilst tending to be more expensive than the historicals, still has similar special offers...

I should probably also recommend Wargames Foundry (http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/), as whilst not the cheapest (12 GBP for 6 figures) they have a very wide selection of ancients, and quite a few packs of Greek Myth types (which might only be sold through their eBay store now?) Generally their ranges (especially the older ancients ranges, as opposed to the more recent 'World of the Greeks' range) are slightly thinner then BTD, but both should work with Warlord, if not with each other...

Gripping Beast, Aventine and A&A minatires also do assorted ancients, although mainly from a Roman perspective... I also picked up Rolson 59144 Pin Vice Set (4 Pieces) for 5 GBP, ensuring that I have the right vice for the bit size. I've found that the Rolson set will also fit into my standard drill, so that if something needs a bit more power to get through and isn't a precision job (putting holes in a piece wood to hold paint brushes, etc) that I can just use my standard drill with the pin vice mounted in it. I think the most common bits I've used are .8 mm and .5 mm.

I also picked up an Archimedes Drill, but I found it more difficult to use than the Rolson vices. It could be I just need a lot more practice to get this tool to be useful for me in miniature pinning. Others don't seem to come off at all. Depending on whether or not you ever want to strip the mini down to the base metal or not may help one to decide with what to undercoat. For instance, the primers that GW sells or the Armoury sprays seem to be able to be stripped off with Fairy Power Spray. On the other side of the spectrum Halford's automotive primer doesn't seem to want to come off even in the strongest of pine cleaners.

And yes, you can use just about any type of primer on your mini - the Halford's brands were cheaper that GW by several pounds per can and seem to cover extremely evenly without the loss of detail. If you're going to paint plastic minis, the Halford's auto paints even have primers for plastics (since most cars have a good bit of plastic on them nowadays) that won't melt your mini.

Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04123119740932390350noreply@blogger.com
